The Key Stage 1 Junior Awards Day 2026 of Sri Lankan School Muscat was held in grand style on 14th October 2026 from 6.00 p.m. onwards. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Ms. Mariah Khan, who has served as the Science Coordinator at Indian School Wadi Kabir (Cambridge) for the past four years and has also been the Primary Level Coordinator for Levels 3 to 5 for the past two years.

The ceremony commenced with the Chief Guest being ceremonially escorted to the hall by the Oriental Band, setting a dignified tone for the evening. The audience was then treated to a beautiful Pooja Dance by the school dance troupe, adding colour and elegance to the occasion, while the Junior Band captivated the gathering with a delightful instrumental performance.

The Key Stage 1 Junior Awards Day holds a unique and special place in the school calendar as it celebrates and recognizes the admirable qualities demonstrated by our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. Rather than focusing solely on academic achievement, the awards acknowledge values and character traits such as kindness, compassion, helpfulness, honesty, courage, respect, and responsibility. Each recipient was honoured with a certificate highlighting their special quality together with a commemorative medal.

The event provided a proud and memorable moment for students as they received their awards in the presence of their parents, teachers, members of the Board of Directors, the Chief Guest, and other distinguished guests. It was a truly heartwarming celebration of the values that shape our young learners into caring, confident, and responsible individuals.

Sri Lankan School Muscat extends its sincere appreciation to all students, parents, staff members, and organizers who contributed to the success of this meaningful event. Together, we continue to nurture not only academic excellence but also the character, values, and positive attitudes that will guide our children throughout their lives.
...
Inter-House Basketball Tournament 2026

Basketball is more than just a sport at Sri Lankan School Muscat (SLSM). For many of our students, it is the "religion" of sports, a game that unites, inspires, and ignites a passion unlike any other. As the new academic year begins each September, the excitement and anticipation for the Inter-House Basketball Tournament starts to build, making it one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Inter-House Sports Meet (IHSM) calendar.

Held on 1st and 2nd October 2026, this year's tournament once again showcased the immense talent, determination, and enthusiasm of our student athletes. The four houses battled fiercely on the court, competing with great passion while remaining true to the spirit of sportsmanship and unity, perfectly reflecting this year's IHSM theme.

Every match provided thrilling moments for players and spectators alike, but the highlight of the tournament was undoubtedly the Under-17 Boys' Final. In a nail-biting contest that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, Topaz House secured victory in the final seconds with an unbelievable three-point shot, creating one of the most memorable moments of the tournament.

The tournament concluded with a grand closing ceremony graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Mohammed Mubarak Al-Owaisi, Coach of the Oman National Basketball Team, together with the Chairman and Board of Directors, faculty and staff, parents, past students, and well-wishers. A special attraction of the evening was the Past Students' Match, which brought back fond memories of years gone by and reminded everyone of the strong basketball tradition and enduring spirit of the SLSM family.

After two days of intense competition, Sapphire House emerged as the Overall Champions, while Topaz House finished as the Runners-up.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, officials, supporters, and organizers who contributed to the success of this remarkable event. Once again, the Inter-House Basketball Tournament demonstrated that while our houses compete fiercely for victory, they remain united by friendship, respect, and the true spirit of sport.
...
Foundation Stage Orientation Programme 2026/27
Sri Lankan School Muscat warmly welcomed its newest learners and their families at the Foundation Stage Orientation Programme, held on 3 September 2026.

The programme was organized to introduce newly admitted Foundation Stage students and their parents to the school environment and to ensure a smooth and confident start to their educational journey. This academic year, 30 students were admitted to Foundation 1 (F1).

During the orientation, parents were provided with valuable information about the Foundation Stage curriculum, daily routines, classroom activities, communication procedures, and school expectations. The session also offered an opportunity for families to interact with teachers and gain insight into the nurturing and student-centered learning environment that characterizes the Foundation Stage at SLSM.

The young learners were excited to explore their new classrooms, meet their teachers and classmates, and take their first steps into school life in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The orientation programme was a great success, fostering positive relationships between home and school while helping both students and parents feel prepared and confident for the year ahead. We look forward to an exciting and rewarding learning journey for our newest members of the SLSM family.

We would like to thank Ms Qurina Paker, Head of the Foundation Section, and her team for organizing this informative and meaningful programme. Their dedication, effort, and careful planning contributed greatly to its success.
... See MoreSee Less

• 2nd Runners-Up – Topaz House
• Fourth Place-Emerald

Best Speaker:
Sakini Basnayake of Ruby House (Grade 9)

It was truly impressive to witness the confidence, logical thinking, and persuasive speaking skills displayed by our junior students. Their ability to present clear arguments and think critically made this event a memorable success.

This year’s Dansal was truly special, welcoming around 1,500 people from 5:30 PM onwards, who enjoyed a variety of refreshments including Chickpea, Kanji, noodles, milk coffee, and ice cream.

The event was declared open by the Chairman and Members of the Board, marking a proud and memorable moment for our school community.

From early morning preparations to the successful completion of the Dansal, the event showcased the incredible teamwork and unity of our faculty and staff, who worked tirelessly to make it a success.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to:
• The President and officers of the Teachers’ Guild for their excellent planning and execution
• The Board of Directors for granting permission to host the event on school premises
• Our faculty and staff for their dedication and teamwork

Language Day 2026: Embracing Diversity Through Language
Though the medium of instruction at Sri Lankan School Muscat is English, the school proudly offers five additional languages—Sinhala, Tamil, Arabic, Urdu, and French—giving students the opportunity to learn a language of their choice. With students representing over 17 nationalities, many also have the unique opportunity to learn and connect with their native languages.

With the aim of further enhancing language competency, the school organizes an annual Language Day. This year, under the leadership of Ms. Saranga, Head of the English Department, and Ms. Ruwandini, Head of the Department of Other Languages, a range of engaging activities were conducted throughout the month of May. With the support of all language and subject teachers, students from Year 1 and above actively participated in events such as recitation, handwriting, creative writing, and poetry.

The award ceremony for the winners was held on Sunday, 31 May 2026, with the participation of the Principal, Deputy Principal, and Head of Academics. Three separate assemblies were organized for this purpose: KS1, KS2, and KS3 & KS4.
During the assemblies, the school leadership-Head of Academics, the Deputy Principal and the principal addressed the students, highlighting the importance of language learning and the valuable opportunity provided to SLSM students to learn multiple languages. They also emphasized the global significance of English as a key language in education, travel, tourism, and commerce.

The event was especially memorable for the Year 1 and Year 2 students, many of whom proudly received their very first certificates.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the language teachers, faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work in making Language Day 2026 a great success.
... See MoreSee Less
