Welcoming Our New Academic Team for the Academic Year 2025/26
At Sri Lankan School Muscat (SLSM), we believe that the strength of our institution lies in the quality, commitment, and passion of our educators. As we progress through the Academic Year 2025/26, we are pleased to welcome a highly accomplished and diverse group of teachers and academic leaders who bring with them a wealth of international experience, strong academic credentials, and a shared commitment to student-centred learning.
These new appointments further strengthen our delivery of the English National Curriculum across all key stages, while reinforcing SLSM’s long-standing values of academic excellence, holistic development, and global best practices.
Academic Leadership
Mr. Rohana Perera joins SLSM as Deputy Principal, bringing nearly three decades of experience in educational leadership. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (Philippines) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) from the University of Colombo. Most recently, he served as Deputy Principal at Gateway College, Colombo for seven years. His extensive leadership experience will play a pivotal role in strengthening academic governance and institutional development at SLSM.
Foundation Stage
Ms. Hajara Rizan is an AMI-qualified Montessori educator, having obtained her diploma from the Good Shepherd Maria Montessori Training Centre in Sri Lanka. With experience across reputed early childhood institutions including St. Lawrence House of Montessori, St. Bridget’s Montessori, and Ceebees Pre-School, she brings a nurturing, child-centred approach that supports strong early learning foundations.
Key Stage 2
A senior educator with over 20 years of experience, Ms. Lakshmi Semasinghe holds a Bachelor of Science (General) from the Open University of Sri Lanka. She has extensive experience preparing students for Edexcel IGCSE, AS, and A2 examinations. Her career includes service at the British School in Colombo, Royal International School, and most recently Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha, where she served for a decade in senior leadership roles, including Sectional Head (Upper School) and Head of Department – Science, in addition to her responsibilities as a Senior Biology Teacher.
Ms. Danusha Hettiarachchi holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) from Horizon College of Business & Technology, Sri Lanka, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. With 10 years of teaching experience, including nearly five years at Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, she brings strong pedagogical expertise and effective classroom practice.
Ms. Fauza Hassan is a qualified educator and public speaking trainer with 10 years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor of Education from Lincoln University, Malaysia, and a Diploma in Primary Education from Lyceum Academy for Teacher Education. Her most recent appointment was at Lyceum International School, Wattala.
Key Stage 3
Ms. Mushfiqa Hamza brings 14 years of experience in teaching English Language and Mathematics under the English National Curriculum. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education from Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka, and holds a Bachelor of Education (First Class) from Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka, and a Diploma in Primary Education (Gold Medallist) from Lyceum Academy for Teacher Education, Sri Lanka. She previously served at Stafford International School and Royal Institute International School, where she taught English and Mathematics for over nine years.
Mr. Ahmed Nadha holds a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Management & Leadership from OTHM, United Kingdom. With over 5 years of teaching experience, including service at Stafford Sri Lankan School, Doha, he brings strong technical expertise to the ICT and Computer Science curriculum.
With over 17 years of experience, Ms. Sonalie Fernando is a seasoned ICT educator experienced in both Edexcel and Cambridge curricula. She holds an MSc in Project Management from Keele University, United Kingdom, a BSc (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, and is currently pursuing a Pearson BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Advanced Teaching from Gateway Graduate School. Her career includes over 12 years at Stafford International School, including service at Stafford Sri Lankan School, Doha.
Ms. Razeena Kitchil holds a Master of Business Studies from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Business Management (Special) from the University of Kelaniya. With over 10 years of experience, she specialises in teaching Business Studies and Economics at IGCSE and A-Level under the English National Curriculum.
Mr. Anton Joseph holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom. With over 5 years of experience teaching secondary Mathematics, he most recently served as an IGCSE Mathematics Teacher at Horizon College International.
Mr. Rajoos Sally is a highly experienced Arabic Language educator with over 20 years of teaching experience across Egypt, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. He holds an MA in Islamic Judicial Sciences from the Islamic University of Maldives (affiliated with Al Azhar University, Egypt), a BA in Arabic Language, Literature, and Education from Al Azhar University, Egypt, and a Diploma in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the Institute of Islamic Foundation, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Key Stage 4 & Advanced Level
Ms. Ameera Zubair holds a BA (Hons) in English (First Class) from Coventry University, United Kingdom, and a Teaching Knowledge Test (Band 3) qualification through the British Council. With 9 years of teaching experience, she specialises in English Language and Literature. Her most recent appointment was at Ilma International School, where she taught the examination classes for 5 years.
Ms. Samika Fernando holds a Master of Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Open University of Sri Lanka, along with a BSc in Mathematics and Economics from the University of London, United Kingdom. With nearly 10 years of experience, she specialises in IGCSE, AS, and A-Level Mathematics, as well as Business Statistics.
Mr. Harith Udara is a specialist in Advanced Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Transport and Logistics Management from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Business Statistics at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. His most recent appointment was at Royal Institute International School, Nugegoda, where he served as the Further Mathematics teacher for Advanced Level.
Mr. Mohammed Illyas brings over 20 years of teaching experience in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Colombo and is no stranger to SLSM, having previously served at the school from 2015 to 2020. We warmly welcome him back to the SLSM academic community.
The addition of these accomplished educators marks an important milestone as SLSM continues its journey of academic growth and excellence. We are confident that their collective expertise, leadership, and dedication will significantly enhance the learning experience of our students in the Academic Year 2025/26. We warmly welcome our new teachers to the SLSM family and look forward to a successful and enriching year ahead.
